Crujd is a Chrome extension that helps you compare résumés to job descriptions using your own Google Gemini API key (bring-your-own-key). This page explains what stays on your device, what leaves your device when you analyze, and how we commit to Limited Use of permissions and user data.
Single purpose
Crujd’s single purpose is to help job seekers compare their résumé(s) to a job description using Gemini with their own API key. We use permissions and user data only to provide that purpose.
Limited Use
Crujd uses access to browser permissions and user data only to provide or improve the single stated purpose above. We do not sell user data. We do not use user data for personalized advertising. We do not transfer user data to third parties except as needed to provide the feature (sending analysis content to Google’s Generative Language API under your API key when you run Crush or Insights) or as required by law. We do not allow humans to read user content except as necessary for support requests you initiate, security/abuse investigation, or legal compliance.
What Crujd stores on your device
The extension stores data locally in your browser. Crujd does not operate servers that receive your API key, résumés, or job-description content for analysis.
- Gemini API key — in
chrome.storage.local, only if you paste one in Options. - Résumé text, labels, filenames and user profile names — in
chrome.storage.local. - Crush history (when enabled) — reports, JD snapshots, job URLs / keys, and related metadata in IndexedDB on this device (about 90 days retention).
- Settings such as whether crush history saving is enabled.
- Optional LinkedIn extract stats (local telemetry for extract quality) in
chrome.storage.local.
What leaves your device
When you click Crush this JD, Run with pasted JD, or Insights,
the extension sends job description text, résumé text, and the analysis prompts
to Google’s Generative Language API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) using your Gemini API key.
Crujd does not operate backend servers that receive this analysis content. Optional crush history remains on your device and is not uploaded to Crujd.
Google as processor
Content you send to Gemini is processed by Google under Google’s terms and policies for the Gemini API / Google AI Studio. See the Gemini API terms and the Google Privacy Policy. Your API key and usage are subject to Google’s account and billing rules — not Crujd’s.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts — the extension Options / side panel and this website may load fonts from Google’s CDN.
- Optional tip / donation provider — if a “Support Crujd” link is shown, it opens an external tip service you choose to visit; tips never gate product features.
Your controls
- Clear or disable crush history in Options or the History page.
- Remove the API key in Options (or clear extension storage via Chrome).
- Uninstall the extension to remove its local data (subject to Chrome’s uninstall behavior).
- Revoke or rotate your Gemini API key in Google AI Studio / Google Cloud if it is compromised.
